Desde hace unos días estoy escuchando sobre este nuevo disco, sobre lo country que es y demás pavadas que suele decir la prensa "especializada" y medios afines. La verdad es que de country, lo único que tiene son marcadas influencias en la mayoría de los temas (excepto el primer tema del disco, el que le da nombre y el más flojo) y una canción (Stranger, en la que canta a duo con Leann Rimes, una artista del género).
La cuestión es que he escuchado el disco con mi amigo Maxi, que es con quien he vivido estos últimos meses (GRACIAS TOTALES, Maxi), que es un fanático patológico de Bon Jovi, y la verdad es que el disco es tan bueno que me sorprendió, y me comprometí a hacer una crítica del mismo.
Como decía, desde Keep The Faith (1992) que no sacaban un disco tan bueno. Han pasado Crush (2000), Bounce (2002) y Have A Nice Day (2005), tres discos llenos de intentos y melodías poperas, bastantes parecidos todos ellos, lejos, cada vez más lejos de lo que Bon Jovi sabía hacer muy bien: Rock.
El disco tiene un pico del que ya no se recupera (We Got It Goin' On, el tema es una aplanadora dentro del álbum y para cualquiera sería muy difícil mantener el ritmo, salvo que escribiera hit tras hit en un mismo disco), pero no deja de tener buenas canciones, con arreglos muy bien logrados, con Jon Bon Jovi cantando dentro un registro en el que por fin está muy bien y cómodo, y Richie Sambora, tocando como siempre lo hace (muy bien). Además, no faltan las baladas, y (You Want To) Make a Memory, es una de esas que difícilmente no vayan a estar en el futuro compilado nostálgico de muchos.
Lo mejor es que con las influencias del country, que son realmente notorias (por momentos, los arreglos de guitarra hacer recordar a Dire Straits) se aleja, por fin, de los engendros pop de los últimos discos para crear un disco accesible para todos, fans de la banda y oyentes ocasionales.
